COMPOSITAE - Daisy Family

The largest family of plants worldwide. In Cyprus second only to the Leguminosae and comprising over 150 species representing 80 genera 48 of which are represented (in Cyprus) by a single species. Compositae are typically characterized by having compound flowers (heads or capitulae) composed of multiple florets which may be ligulate or tubular in form. Seeds are achenes which are generally wind distributed.
