LEGUMINOSAE - Pea Family

A huge family of plants. In Cyprus the most widely represented (34 genera and at least 169 species).

Flowers of five petals; an upper standard, two wings and a keel composed of two fused petals. The standard generally encloses the others. Leaves are generally compound with pinnately arranged leaflets. The fruit is a pod.
