Common Grape Vine

Climbing shrub with alternate leaves opposed by branching tendrils. Palmate, 5-7 lobed leaves, coarsely toothed. Flowers, small, greenish and hermaphrodite 4-5 lobed.

The common grape vine with numerous cultivated varieties. A wild form (V. vinifera. ssp. sylvestris), in which male and female flowers are borne of separate plants,occurs in some parts of the Mediterranean, but has not been definitively identified in Cyprus.
